PINK "ME" Up Food- No Hunger Project
Recognizing the impact of treatment costs and lost work time, this initiative addresses food insecurities among cancer patients and their caregivers, ensuring access to nutritious food.
Food insecurity is more prevalent among cancer patients and their caregivers due to treatment costs and lost work time, leading to reduced grocery spending. The American Cancer Society highlights this issue, with fightcancer.org noting that 40% of survivors have incurred debt to buy food, and 11% have delayed or skipped treatment to afford it. Food insecurity also correlates with lower cancer screening rates, including for breast cancer.
In efforts to assist with food insecurities that our recent friends have experienced, we are pleased to announce a new initiative towards addressing food insecurities among those affected by breast cancer.
